Philip Pinnington

Philip Pinnington took up his duties as Ambassador of Canada to the Republic of Serbia, to Montenegro, and the Republic of Macedonia, in December 2014. He studied at the University of Toronto (BA, 1981; MA [International Relations], 1985) and joined the then Department of External Affairs in 1986. In Ottawa, Mr. Pinnington has worked in many different areas, including Canada’s participation in the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), relations with the European Union, the International Crime Division, and Personnel. He was the Director of the Bilateral Relations and Operations Division in the Europe and Eurasia Bureau, and most recently supported a corporate restructuring project as Director of the Office of Transformation. Abroad, Mr. Pinnington served at the Canadian High Commission in Bridgetown, the Canadian Embassy in Dublin and as the Political Counsellor at the Canadian Mission to NATO in Brussels. Mr. Pinnington is married and has three children.
