Dr Kesler is CEO of European Lithium Limited. He has had extensive experience in mining project development in many commodities and in many geographies with both majors and juniors. He has held leadership positions as CEO Greystar Resources (Canada), President Mining Washington Group International/URS (USA), Executive Director Billiton (UK/RSA), CEO Pacific Nickel (Philippines/Australia), CEO Collahuasi (Chile), VP Business Development Escondida (Chile) and General Manager/Director Rossing (Namibia). He is a graduate of Imperial College in mining engineering with a PhD in mineral technology and is a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining
European Lithium's potential role in the European Clean Energy revolution
Europe is increasingly focused on Clean Energy to decarbonise the economies and to reduce harmful health effects from vehicle emissions. Motor manufacturers are ramping up production of EV’s whilst energy storage solutions are required to optimise energy production from renewables. Rechargeable lithium batteries have emerged as the best option for both. Today, all batteries are imported from Asia but there have been recent announcements of lithium battery production projects in a number of European Countries. At present Europe has almost no domestic production. European Lithium’s hard rock project in Austria is an advanced project aiming to provide battery grade lithium carbonate and hydroxide for the nascent European lithium battery plants and to be the base of an integrated lithium supply chain in Europe.
