Wolfram Felfer
Fugro
Wolfram has a degree in Mining Geology with focus on Geophysics from Mining University Leoben/Austria and a post graduate degree in Environmental Technology from Technical University Graz/Austria. He started his professional career as an employed consulting hydro-geologist (6 years) and after this he founded his own company for Wireline Logging (GECO Umwelttechnik, 10 years).
Since 2006 he is Country Manager of Fugro in Austria and besides that he is also responsible for Fugro’s Wireline Logging Services in the Europe and Caspian region. Wolfram looks back on more than 20 years of wireline logging work focused on geotechnics, mining and water applications.
How Wireline Logging can increase the information about the subsurface and reduce uncertainty and risk in mining projects.
Besides the traditional methods applied in boreholes like core logging, cuttings analysis and laboratory testing, Wireline Logging can act as a valuable supplement and, in many cases, will provide data which are not or not sufficiently achievable with the traditional approach.
The methods have been invented for the oil & gas industry in the 20ies of the last century and, for a long time, have been applied just in oil & gas boreholes. It has only been in the last 3 – 4 decades that Wireline Logging has been implemented in other market sectors.
The talk will present the capabilities of Wireline Logging to increase information about the subsurface and decrease uncertainty and risk for the mine planner in particular phases of the mining life-cycle.
